Conditions: A mainland People's Republic of China ordinary-passport holder normally requires a New Zealand visitor visa before tourism travel. Applications may be made online and New Zealand issues the resulting permission electronically, but an electronic delivery channel does not turn the requirement into visa-free entry or a general-purpose travel authorisation. A limited exception allows an eligible Chinese citizen who holds a qualifying valid Australian visa and travels directly from Australia to use an NZeTA for a visit of up to three months; that document-dependent exception must not be applied to the ordinary Chinese passport by itself. The grant letter and border decision remain controlling.
